Every year, MSA Submissions co-hosts a Charity Art Gala with HOPE, the community service specialty of Rutgers MSA. The art pieces that were displayed and auctioned off were created by Muslim students at Rutgers and others within the local Muslim communities. Accordingly, many pieces depict Islamic themes and an overall Islamic lens on daily life, including aspects from the social and cultural context we find ourselves in.

“To serve as a source in the Muslim community for spiritually-inspired environmental education, action, and reflection. We engage locally while serving as a national resource.” — Our Mission, Green Muslims

Proceeds from this school year’s art gala went to Green Muslims, a nonprofit organization that works to educate Muslim communities throughout the larger Washington DC area on environmental issues and promote activism as a way to connect with nature and the environmental spirit of Islam. More information about their mission and programs can be found on their website: GreenMuslims.org
