The Stranger

Welcome to society they said as they judged her every move
We’ll make you feel isolated because of what you choose
We’ve buried everyone else under our fables and lies
And we won’t let you stand tall or be really wise
Beware! If you don’t give up, we’ll make your life a living hell
Keep this in mind, but don’t worry, all will be well

Slowly voices began to take over
And doubts would cross her mind
Whispers and confusion left her deaf and blind
She tried to break free from a prison felt home
Not realizing that the voices were none but her own
She tried collecting her pieces from the days that she was strong
Not realizing that those days were now long gone
Her shattered pieces fell in prostration in front of the Almighty
Begging for forgiveness and seeking refuge from the lies of society
Her heart opened up once again
To the truth and mercy which would never end

She was a stranger amongst the common people
Who obeyed laws and rules, but they thought she was feeble
Little did they know that glad tidings are to her
As she continues her journey on the straight path
So that her Lord accepts her soul when she breathes her last

So use her blood as your ink to write your fables
Use her modesty as an excuse for your labels
Torture her, twist the truth, but she will remain stable
Because glad tidings are to her, and she will remain grateful

Use your knives to cut her words
Try to end her with your sword
But in the end, success is what she’ll find
Because she is a stranger during these corrupt times

Try as much as you can, but she will never be in danger
Her Lord’s promise is true
So, glad tidings to you O Stranger

Abu Hurairah (RadiyAllahu ‘Anhu) narrates that Rasulullah ﷺ said: Islam began as something strange and will go back to being something strange, so glad tidings to the strangers
